Overview video — Leigh Finger Joint Templates

Leigh's versatile F18 / F18M and F24 / F24M Finger Joint Templates become the most comprehensive and accurate jig of their kind when mounted on a Super18 or Super24 Jig. The F18 and F24 produce 8 sizes of finger (box) joints from 3/32" to 1/2" (2.4mm to 12.7mm) and the F18M and F24M produce 7 sizes of finger (box) joints from 3mm to 24mm (1/8" to 1").

Here’s How:

1 Use either of the included Leigh eBushes and matching straight bit (not included) with your router for your selected joint size. The eBush steers the router along the template combs to rout the joints.
2 The active half of the scale is readable, not the half that is upside down. The joint size shown is 3/8”. Notice how the scale and template are both set to 3/8".
3 Generally with box joints, one board edge starts with a pin, the other with a socket. A template control pin positions the F18 / F18M Template for both. Here, the icon shows you’re ready to rout a socket board.
4 Rout around the template to form the sockets.
5 Remove the control pin, slide the template sideways to the next position, and insert the pin in the hole marked by the pin icon. You’re ready to rout the pin board.
6 Rout around the template to form the pins in the mating board.
7 Fit the boards together to check the joint fit.
8 Perfect joint fit is easy with one of the three patented Leigh eBush guide bushings (see diagram below).
